Singer-songwriter Susan Berg McNelis, better known as Oh Susannah, brings new life to old favorites on this lively recording. From the pulsating rhythms of her"Wheels on the Bus" and "If you're Happy and You Know It", to the rock and roll style "Rock-a-bye Baby", these are songs that the whole family can enjoy anew. The juxtaposition of old and new is often clever, as in "Oh My Dinos", which borrows its tune from "Clementine" ( "In a cavern, in a canyon/ a paleontologist collects/fossil bones or stegosaurus/and Tyrannosaurus Rex.") There are a few completely original tunes as well, including the title track, and "All Fall Down", a lovely ballad... Children's librarians will be delighted to find these new versions of storytime favorites. A fun recording for the whole family.

New Venues for Fall!

Great news for Montgomery County and Washington DC fans...I'm beginning regular shows at Ebenezers Coffeehouse in NE Washington DC on Capitol Hill. The Ebenezers gigs will be on the 3rd Friday of each month at 10:30am. Fee is $5 for kids, adults are free! They have a large and beautiful downstairs room which is set up for some great music. Can't wait to see you all!

The Washington D.C. area's favorite children's entertainer, Oh Susannah (singer/songwriter Susan McNelis), has just won the Second Place Award at the Just Plain Folks Music Awards in the Best Children's Song category for "The Cats Go Marching" from her release "Sing-Song: Music for Children and Families". The prestigious Just Plain Folks 2002 Music Awards were presented in Hollywood on March 1, 2003.Â Just Plain Folks is now the largest music organization in the world, with over 20,000 international members.Â 101,000 songs were entered in the competition by member songwriters and award nominees received coveted invitations to attend the ceremony. The top finalists received award certificates and took part in an L.A. studio session to record the organization's new theme song and celebrate their accomplishments. Oh Susannah also performed her song at the award showcase before an enthusiastic audience of industry professionals.
